PADI Open Water Diver Course

To enrol in a PADI Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course), you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.
Day 1 - Classroom & Confined Water Training:
We begin the course in the classroom where we will introduce you to the basic knowledge and theory behind scuba diving. The day starts by watching the first 3 chapters of PADI Open Water DVD and follow along in the PADI Open Water Manual at the same time. At the end of each of the chapters, there are some multiple-choice knowledge review questions to answer.
After a break for lunch, we then start with confined water training. We first start to teach you to dive in a swimming pool or in shallow water from the beach as it offers a safe and controlled learning environment. You will practice a variety of different scuba diving skills split over several confined water dives in preparation for your Open Water Dives.
The approximate time for the first day of the course is 9am - 5pm
Day 2 - Classroom & Confined Water Training:
We start again in the classroom by watching the final 2 chapters PADI Open Water DVD and completing all the knowledge review questions there is 4 x 10 question multiple choice quick quizzes (practice questions) to answer followed by a 50 question multiple choice exam. After a break for lunch, we go back in the water to complete the remaining confined water training dives.
The approximate time for the second day of the course is 9am - 5pm.
Day 3 - Open Water Dives 1 & 2:
We transfer all the skills you have learned in confined water to an open water environment so, for example, the water will be deeper than in confined water, the visibility will be different, there could be waves or current to deal with but as you have mastered the skills in confined water already you will be prepared and able to handle the different environment.
Maximum depth of Open Water Dives 1 & 2 is 12 meters.
Day 4 - Open Water Dives 3 & 4:
Very similar to day 3 of the course, the only difference being that the maximum depth of the dives is now 18 meters (12 meter maximum for ages 10 & 11)
The approximate times for days 3 & 4 are 8:15am - 2pm.
Included in the course is the PADI Open Water Diver e -manual, PADI certification fee, log book, drinking water, all equipment, instructor fees ...

For those who have completed the PADI open water E-learning this will shorten the course by 1 day
Day one will be a short review of the theory before going to the pool or shallow water off the beach to learn the confined skills.
